PLAYER MILESTONE – JAYDEN ELDRIDGE – 100 DIVISION 1 GAMES
Tomorrow in the season opener against Northern Districts Jayden Eldridge will become just the 77th player in the club’s history to achieve 100 Division 1 game milestone.
Jayden started his baseball journey in little league at Southern Districts, winning an MVP. His dad then struck a deal to coach him if he made the shift down the hill to Glenelg where all his family has played.
Jayden’s earliest memories of the club, are being looked after by his late grandfather, knocking around with his younger brother and good mate Kyle Alexander, while their dads played.
In juniors Jayden was always a pitcher, doesn’t like batting and still doesn’t, and attributes Jeff Downs and cousin Lachy Eldridge as being the biggest influences on his development.
Ironically Jayden made his Div 1 debut also against North’s when then coach Dale Ziersch called him up from the bullpen.
Jayden says catchers, initially Beau Bishop and now Dylan Bentley as the best players he’s played with and those who know Jayden would understand he doesn’t apply a lot on analysis of his opponents and when pressed as to who was his toughest opponent, he simply said younger brother Mouse, who he’s always struggled to get out, dating right back to going to opposing high schools.
Career to date highlight is being part of winning Under 19 premiership team.
Jayden appreciates long-time family friend and sponsor Ben Dixon @ Seaview Accounting for the support.
Wishing Jayden all the best for tomorrow’s start.
